What does a Mom do when her daughter requests a special rollup case to use when she's creating her seed bead jewelry??? …. make one, of course!!! I had no idea where to start and, after much research online, in books and magazines I finally found a pattern in a magazine I just purchased (Quilting on a Time Budget…the pattern I used is Tool Roll by Claire Haillot). I modified the pattern to accommodate my daughter's needs by adding some felt for her needles and pockets sized to fit what she uses along with a few other changes; and for fun I used a serpentine stitch to attach the binding. I also stitched up a fabric bag to store the rollup case in so she'd have lots of extra room if she needs it and, more importantly, so nothing falls out when she's traveling. I didn't want any unfinished seams on the inside of the bag (it is not lined) so I decided to sew French seams, added the ties before doing that and finished it with boxed corners. The three fabrics came from my container of washed FQs…only chosen because I wasn't sure how this project would turn out... but I'm pleased with how they look together…and, best of all, my daughter loves her new case!!!!
