How cute are these mittens???  They are the block for Week #17 of the Quilty Fun Sew Along.  These may be my favorite block of the sew along….can't you see using them in any Winter project or for Christmas potholders, wall hangings, table runners, etc.?  The adorable little plastic letters and numbers I used on my mini design board are from the Fat Quarter Shop and are called Alphabitties…I won them on this Sew Along. They're great for keeping track of all the different strips you cut for each block (or you can use them like I did to make a fun sign for pictures). I made the mini design board (and several others) following a tutorial on Lori Holts' blog when I first started quilting a few years ago and they come in so handy when making small blocks with lots of pieces. I've added links to the Alphabitties, Lori's blog and the mini design board tutorial…just click each of the highlighted areas to check them out.

  1. the mittens are too cute! and the numbers are a very clever idea for blocks with lots of pieces. lori's blog is bright and cheerful--tfs!

  2. Sweet, sweet mittens and I just adore that lap quilt in your previous post - fabulous colourways in it! xCathy
