MY FIRST QUILTED PLACEMATS

I just finished my first set of quilted placemats and love how they came out!! My friend (and quilting buddy/instructor), Betty, and I decided we are going to create placemats for different seasons and holidays so my next project will be for Halloween (I know it's early but the fabric was on sale and I couldn't resist). The pattern I'm going to use is a modified quilt-as-you-go method....should be fun and challenging. Thanks for visiting my blog!

BIRTHDAY WISHES

I needed a birthday card and decided to follow the CR84FN20 Color Challenge this week which is to use the colors in the inspiration photo above; Plum, Lavender and Green. The cardstock is Colorbok and the flowers and ribbon are from a gift set I received (think it is called Portafolia) along with Prima and Mark Roberts bling. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions stamped with TH Distress Ink in Forest Moss. MS punch was used for the green layer. Thanks so much for visiting!

PEACHY KEEN STAMPS CHALLENGE 12 (Flower Power)

I love creating my own flower embellishments and the Peachy Keen Stamps Let's Face It Friday Challenge 12  is to create any project you like, and embellish it with a pretty handmade flower.  Your project must include Peachy Keen Faces. First I stamped the PKS Faceless Flowers using PTI Berry Sorbet and then stamped the PKS Everyday Characters face stamps into the center of the flowers using PTI New Leaf. Once they were stamped I covered the faces with Glossy Accents to give them a little dimension. My handmade flower was created using white crepe paper, a Copic Marker, a small Prima Flower in the center, a white glass pearl bead, the MS fringe scissors and my glue gun. Both the flower stem and border were created using the SU Scallop Edge Punch (got the idea from Lynn ..thanks!). Other products used: Ippity Gurnsey Gingham Stamp, Websters Pages dp, white and kraft cs, Taylored Expressions It's a Banner Day 1 stamp and die, SU Scallop Edge Punch, pop dots.

CAMERA MINI ALBUM

This is a mini album I created for Custom Crops using my Cricut Expression, Cricut Design Studio and the Locker Talk cartridge.  When I purchased this cartridge it was with the intent to scrapbook school pictures; however, when I looked throught the handbook I found cuts that can be used for a variety of subjects besides school.  I chose this camera cut to make into a mini album that can be used for school pics or any number of other subjects. I kept it simple for now; but if you change the colors, add different cuts and embellishments, it can be an autograph book for a trip to Disneyland; or a brag book for a new Mom or Grandmother; vacation album; etc.  A free .cut file, directions and more pictures are in my article at Custom Crops by clicking here.  I'd love to see what you create with this, so please leave me some feedback with a link to your creation.

MY FIRST QUILTED RUNNER IS FINISHED!!!

I did it!!!! My very first quilted runner is finished...WOO HOO!!! I love how it came out...and it fits the top of the cabinet perfectly (see the top pic)!!!!  Went shopping yesterday with Betty (my friend, neighbor, quilting teacher and enabler LOL) and bought lots more fabric....as soon as I was done hand sewing the binding on this runner I started working on my next project. (I'll still be doing paper crafting projects, just have to figure out how to make the days longer so I can fit it all in.. HA!!!). Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave your kind words!!!

A SNEAK PEEK OF MY LATEST PROJECT

Just wanted to share a sneak peek of my first table runner. After I carefully cut and sewed all these fun fabric strips and border together, my friend and neighbor, Betty, (who has been teaching me how to quilt) is going to do the quilting for this one. Once she is done, I get to sew on the binding and (best of all) enjoy the finished piece. I'll be sure to post a picture when it is completely finished.

A BLOG AWARD FROM THERESA!!!

I'm really thankful to Theresa (Scrapper69) for this sweet blog award.  Theresa has a fun blog with lots of great cards that you should check out by clicking here.   (I know I'm not following the 'rules' and I hope no one minds but I honestly can't choose only five from all the amazing blogs I love to visit...I think they all have style!) The other requirement was to list five things about yourself including one thing you enjoy about your craft :
1. I love to travel.
2. My favorite candy when I was a child was Tootsie Rolls....and it still is!!
3. I'm learning how to quilt.
4. My favorite season is Summer.
5. One thing I enjoy about my craft is trying new techniques and sharing what I've learned with others.
Again, a big thanks to Theresa!
