CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE #31

Cricut Cardz Challenge #31 is to make a card for the 4th of July using any carts or colors you'd like.  I used my Gypsy and three cartridges; George and Basic Shapes for the small blue rectangle on the flag; Beyond Birthdays for the sentiment "God Bless America" and My World for the American flag.  The sentiment was cut once in blue and once in white using the shadow feature; the flag was cut once in red and once in white using the shadow feature. After adhering the red and white layers together, I added the blue rectangle...which I then decorated with rhinestones instead of stars. I also added a rhinestone to dot the 'i' in America.  The top of the flag pole was decorated with a Viva Decor Pearl pen in white. I added two small strips of white cs for the top and bottom of the card. The blue cs in the center was run through the Sizzix BigKick using the new Tim Holtz Alterations Faded Textures Bricked. I sponged some navy dye ink onto the paper to bring out the brick design. The flag was attached using pop dots for a bit of dimension. PAPER CUTZ CHALLENGE #46

This week's Paper Cutz Challenge is to make a card, layout or project for a wedding using white, brown, pink and green only.  I used papers I had in my stash with these colors and made a standard A2 size card with my Gypsy; Wedding Solutions cart and GBS cart. The card is in solid brown, the car was cut three times; twice in white and once in a pink patterned paper (with the back window cut out so the white layer would show through); adhered together for a chipboard effect and attached to the card base with pop dots. I used my Cri-Kits green metallic gel pen once again for the wording.  I cut the rear 'lights" from circles on the GBS cart; inked around and used my white gel pen for doodling. The lights and 'Just Married' were adhered with pop dots for some more dimension.  For a bit of bling I used Stickles around the window and a Viva Decor Pearl Pen to create some 'faux' pearls.  Hope you'll join in the challenge with all the talented ladies on the PCC Design Team by clicking here.

CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE #29

This week at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a card with a vacation theme using any carts or colors you'd like.  I used my Gypsy with Simply Sweet for the sentiment; Just Because Cards for the card and sailboat and Zooballoo for the waves. The scalloped edge card was cut twice; once in white cs for the base (A2 size) and then a second time in light blue. Before removing the blue layer from the mat, I switched the cutting blade out and used the Cri-Kits gel pen holder with a dark blue gel pen to draw the 'happy sailing'. I cut the sailboat twice; once in orange and then making it smaller; I first 'drew' it with a gel pen; enlarged it again and cut it out.  The waves were cut from a dark blue cs. After assembling the card I used an Inkssentials white opaque pen for the doodling. The faux ribbon is made from a sheet of cs; I used Terrifically Tacky tape on the back and folded it to fit the blue layer. Come join the fun with all the DT ladies at CCC by clicking here.

GYPSY CHALLENGE ON CRICUT MB

This card was created for a challenge on the Cricut mb for Gypsy users.  To show how truly easy it is to create with the Gypsy without needing a ton of supplies I decided to use solid color cardstock for all the cuts but the 'sand' (I had a patterned paper in my stash but could have used plain cream color cs instead). The only other items; besides a Zig glue pen and pop dots,  were an orange glitter pen from Cri-Kits and an Inkssentials white opaque pen.  The cuts were made from the following: A Child's Year for the card; I used the Hide Selected Contour feature to remove the stars etc. ....love that feature and sooooo happy they finally updated it for the Gypsy as I almost always use it on CDS. I cut the front of the card from blue cs and using a slightly smaller size for the inside with yellow cs.  The beach umbrella is also from ACY. I cut it once in yellow and then used the HSC feature and then cut it again in orange.  The sun is from Gypsy Wanderings; the sand is from EDPD and the wave is from Zooballoo.  The orange gel pen was used on the umbrella cut and for doodling on the inside of the card.  The white gel pen was used for doodling on the front of the card.  I had a great time creating this with my Gypsy and Baby Bug. I'm away from my house with my craft room (and my Expression and all the cartridges) but with the Gypsy I am still able to create and use those carts as if they were right here with me....love it!!!! Please let me know what you think....I do appreciate every kind word and thank you for taking the time to visit!!!!

PAPER CUTZ CHALLENGE #45

Paper Cutz Challenge #45 is to make a card, layout or craft project for Father's Day using a digital, hand stamped or Cricut cut image and any colors you'd like. For this card I used my Gypsy, Beyond Birthdays and Everyday Paper Dolls cartridges. I welded a rectangle and an oval together to create the card (it is a standard A2 size). The fish were from EDPD and were 'drawn' using my Cri-Kits gel pens onto some design paper from my stash. I hand cut three little fish out to use on the inside of the card and added some 'bubbles' using a white Signo pen. The word Dad is from Beyond Birthdays and is cut twice; once in light blue and once in dark blue. The light blue cs oval and dark blue word Dad were run through my dd's Sizzix Big Kick with the new Tim Holtz notebook embossing folder (one of my purchases while on-the-road). I didn't add a Father's Day sentiment inside because I think this would also make a great birthday card for a Dad and haven't decided which to use it for. CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE #28

Cricut Cardz Challenge #28 is to make a card using shoes and any cartridges, colors or theme. I used my Gypsy along with George and Basic Shapes (for the sentiment) and Tie The Knot (for the shoes) to create my card. I decided to use the Cri-Kits gel pen holder and black metallic pen to 'draw' and not cut out the shoes and sentiment. After drawing the designs I filled in the words with a pink metallic pen. I'm in my house back East (very limited craft supplies are here so I had to make due with what I could find along with what I purchased on our drive across the USA in Archivers..."Hi Lisa!" and Hobby Lobby!) so for the shoes I carefully applied glue (using a wooden toothpick) and sprinkled on some Art Accentz glitter. The card is plain pink cs cut to make a standard A2 size and plain black cs used to mat the shoes and inside sentiment which were done on plain green cs. I ran a piece of ribbon through a chipboard corner and attached it using pop dots. The black jewels are from Bazzill. Come join in the fun with all the DT ladies at CCC by clicking here.

ANNIVERSARY CARD FOR A SPECIAL COUPLE

It’s hard to believe, but my daughter and son-in-law will be celebrating their second anniversary this year. They were married at the Paris Las Vegas (and it was an absolutely beautiful wedding). When I saw the Tim Holtz Clear Cling Stamp Sets, "I See Paris" and "Mini Muse", I knew they would be perfect for a special card for the couple. This can also be used as a wedding card.

Most of the projects I’ve seen using Tim Holtz products are usually done with a ‘grunge’ look. I wanted this card to be more elegant, so I used shades of pink with some black and white accents. For some bling (remember it was a Vegas wedding!) I added some rhinestones to the front and inside of the card. My daughter collects vintage items and so the three black buttons are from her collection that she generously shared with me. I added some black cord and attached them with Scor-tape to be sure they would not fall off. I am extremely happy with the look and hope they like the card.

All the directions for this card, along with the supplies I used can be found in my article at Custom Crops by clicking here. Please leave a comment for me at CC and also here on my blog...your kind words are always appreciated!

PAPER CUTZ CHALLENGE #44

For this week's Paper Cutz Challenge #44 we are to make a card, layout or craft project with a vacation theme using a digital, hand-stamped or Cricut cut image of a car, plane, travel trailer or RV and use any colors we'd like.  Since my husband and I own a small RV I just knew that was the way I was going to go with this challenge.  I used my Gypsy and the Going Places cartridge on Page 97 and cut all the layers for the motorhome and word Roadtrip.  I cut the card base on Page 130 at 11" wide by 4.25" tall. I used cardstock from my 'scraps folder' for this card.  The shadow blackout layer was cut in black; the shadow layer and motorhome were cut in white. I used a silver Sharpie to color the shadow layer where the openings would show through and for the tires. I used an ink dauber with Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink for the tires. I hand cut a door; used a Copic marker around the edges of the motorhome and door, added a tiny brad for a handle and attached it to the motorhome with SU dimensionals. I used some clear rhinestones for the hubcaps.  For the 'road' I cut a piece of black cs and used my Uniball Signo white pen to draw the lines (I did the same for the inside of the card) and to do the doodle dots on the sentiment; the corners were rounded with the Corner Chomper.  I added small red rhinestones to dot the letter 'i' and for the exclamation mark.  The mountains I cut by hand; ran through the Cuttlebug with the D'Vine Swirls and Candy Cane Stripes folders; inked with Memento inks. The motorhome and sentiment are attached with SU dimensionals.  Come play along with all the talented DT ladies at PCC and show us your vacation themed project by clicking here.

CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE # 27

Cricut Cardz Challenge #27 is to make a Father's Day card using any cartridge(s) or colors you'd like.  I used three cartridges for this card: Create A Critter; Just Because Cards and Don Juan.  The card and layers are from Just Because Cards, Page 57, and were cut at 6 1/4".  The lion comes from Create A Critter on page 57. I cut Layer 1, Layer 2 and the Shadow Layer for the lion. I inked around his mane with Memento inks before assembling.  Once assembled, I drew some doodle dots with a Zig Pen in Brown. I wanted him to have big eyes so I attached wiggle eyes with some glue dots.  The word "no lion" is from Don Juan. I welded the words and cut them twice...once in brown and once in yellow. After adhering them together slightly off center, I punched tiny holes on some of the letters.  I also punched holes in the dp layer before adhering it to the brown layer.  I printed the inside sentiment "You're The Best Dad!  Happy Father's Day!" using my Microsoft Works and Reservoir Grunge Font on the same dp as I used on the front of the card.  The lion is adhered with SU dimensionals and a few rhinestones were added for a little bling.  (The colors in the photos are not how they look in person....had to use a photo program I'm not used to since my laptop's hard drive crashed...sorry!)
